AP - As swine flu runs rampant in the Southern Hemisphere winter, world health experts are concerned that some hard-hit countries have been reluctant to take forceful measures to protect public health.

AP - With swine flu continuing to spread around the world, researchers say they have found the reason it is so far more a series of local blazes than a wide-raging wildfire. The new virus, H1N1, has a protein on its surface that is not very efficient at binding with receptors in people's respiratory tracts, researchers at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology report in Friday's edition of the journal Science.

reception At the Bayside doctors' surgery in Ulverston we aim to provide a high standard of health care by making appropiate and innovative use of NHS resources in partnership with other Health Care providers, and in partnership with you. We hope that this site will help you work together with us, and enable you to make the best use of the service.

Our team includes the doctor, practice nurses, district nurses and midwives, physiotherapists, counsellors, receptionists and support staff. Other professionals regularly work with the practice.

The Bayside Practice in Ulverston is part of the Cumbria Primary Care Trust. We are a training practice for medical students on the path to becoming doctors.

New opening hours

Bayside is extending opening hours we will not be closed for lunch. From February 2nd we will be trialling a late surgery on Wednesday evenings. The surgery will be open until 8pm.
