All members of the practice work as a team. When you book an appointment, you may be asked to explain what the appointment is for to enable us to direct you to the most appropiate member of our team - whether that be a doctor, a practice nurse or someone else. Here are some useful guidelines.
Doctors (Tel: 01229 484070)
Doctors are available for all types of consultations and new presentations. Increasingly, the management of ongoing stable conditions is shared with the practice nurses. Telephone consultations are available daily if it is something that may be sorted in this manner.
Health Visitors
They are concerned with health promotion and the prevention of illness, offering help, advice and support on many things affecting the health of children. You could see them for advice on such things as baby and child care, child health and development, minor ailments, family nutrition, family dynamics, coping with disabilities, welfare benefits and local services and facilities. They also run support groups.
District Nurses
District nurses provide nursing care for patients in their own homes. In addition to being skilled nurses they know about the local and national services available and particular they provide teachimg and support for carers. You should contact them if you need nursing care or a health check at home or if you have recently been discharged from hospital have a palliative care need or if you are a carer.
Midwives
Midwives provide antenatal and postnatal care, support and education to those who are pregnant. This includes antenatal clinics, drop-in clinics, parent craft classes and home visits. Please ask at reception if you need to see a midwife or discuss with the doctor.
ADVANCED ACCESS
In accordance with the Department Of Health’s directive we aim to provide an appropiate clinical contact to every patient who contacts us within 48 hours.
APPOINTMENTS
- Routine appointments should be used wisely.
- Reviews after seeing the doctor will generally be set by the doctor.
- Telephone appointments 10.15-10.45 Mon-Fri. Available if you feel you have something that can be sorted out by the doctor over the phone.
- Urgent Only Clinics 11.00-12.30 Mon-Fri On the day emergencies only. They operate on a first come first serve basis.
Book your appointments online
Before you can start booking GP appointments online (or order repeat prescriptions) you must first register your details for this service.
It is quick and easy to register. You will need to come into the surgery for an application form and then you will be given the relevant details to enable you to set up an account and use the system - see our user guide for further information
Once registered you will be able to view any appointments you have already made, cancel them if necessary, or book a new appointment with the doctor.
When you book an appointment online you will receive confirmation which you can print off and bring with you when you attend the surgery. There is no need to reconfirm
