Between 1830 and 08.00 responsibility for medical care now lies with the PCT. Their service is called BAYCALL. For urgent medical problems when the surgery is closed at nights and weekends.
You ring 0845 052 4999 and their system will triage your call via a nurse or a doctor who will give home advice, organise a visit by a doctor or District Nurse, advise rapid admission to hospital or organise for you to be seen at their base.
BAYCALL Bases are currently in Kendal (Westmoreland General Hospital), Barrow (Furness General Hospital), Morecambe (Queen Victoria Centre)
This is not a walk in service. A telephone call must be made initially and a member of the medical team phones you back.
Dr Hart does regular sessions for Baycall usually as part of the medical triage team.
